Ana Cristina Ribeiro Rosa Jácome dos Anjos (b. 1963), who signs her work as ANAWAVE, holds a degree in Dental Medicine—a profession she has always balanced with her passion for the arts, which she considers deeply connected to her medical practice, viewing dentistry itself as a form of art.
Driven by this passion, she began her artistic training at Nextart School in Lisbon, between 2006 and 2010, where she attended courses in watercolor, oil painting, sculpture, and individual art projects, also participating in the school’s group exhibitions. In 2010, she took part in the XI Exhibition "The Sea and Maritime Motifs" at the Academia da Marinha, where her work stood out for its sensitivity and thematic depth.
For the past four years, she has been developing her artistic work at the Atelier Internacional de Belas Artes, having found her preferred medium in acrylic on canvas. Her paintings, often inspired by her own photographs, explore the interplay of light and shadow in calm, introspective atmospheres. Her work conveys a strong sense of tranquility and presence, inviting the viewer to “be there” in a space of contemplation and inner peace—values she seeks to express as essential to life.
ANAWAVE is also a founding member of the Urban Sketchers, with whom she has participated in several exhibitions and has had work published in Urban Sketching books. In 2022, she took part in the International Plein Air Meeting in France and was featured in the "Art Has Arrived at Colombo" exhibition, focused on the theme Save the Planet.
Passionate about Aesthetic Philosophy in Art, she has been attending the Aesthetics Course at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes since 2022, while continuing to deepen her knowledge through regular visits to exhibitions and cultural events.
In addition to her artistic path, Ana Cristina is also committed to social causes. She volunteers with Refood, collecting surplus food from supermarkets and schools and helping redistribute it to underprivileged families, contributing actively to the fight against hunger.
