Antonio Colombini, also known as FOTOPLASTA, is originally from Italy (Magenta, 1976) but has fallen for Portugal since 2014. He is deeply passionate about music, cinema, and photography.
He has a dark electronic solo music project called SONOPLASTA, so in 2018, when he began studying photography at Atelier de Lisboa, he decided to adopt the name FOTOPLASTA as his photographic alter ego.
"Sonoplastia" which translates to "sound shaping" in Portuguese, refers to the process of molding sound to create sound effects, soundscapes, and musical atmospheres. A person who practices this art is known as “sonoplasta".
Antonio has a profound love for shaping both sound and light, for they are waves that constantly vibrate around us.
His primary focus has been on female portraiture, capturing concerts and show performances, and directing the photography and shooting music videos, with the aim of bringing music to your eyes and light to your ears.
“Like films we are impressed by sudden shots of life. Like films we are blurred by the turbid sight of feelings. Like films we are overexposed to the distorted light of thought. Like films we are imprisoned in a foreign body before being developed in the darkroom of fate. Like films let's pose!”
( Translated lyrics of the song "Come Pellicole" by SONOPLASTA )
