Collection: Arlette Marques, visual artist
|
Artist featured by Art Gallery The One in a collection. |
Arlette Marques was born on July 4, 1941, in Luanda, Angola, and showed an early inclination towards the arts. Although she attended the decorative painting course at the Luanda Industrial School, it wasn't until she turned 50 that she returned to the world of visual arts. Her work is a vivid expression of cultural mestizaje, highlighting the coexistence of African and European elements, reflecting her artistic sensitivity and a historical legacy marked by the emergence of an African middle class in the 18th century. Inspired since childhood, Arlette found in painting a way to express her multifaceted creativity, exploring techniques ranging from silk painting to stained glass. Her work addresses themes such as style, fashion, and cultural aspects, strongly influenced by exhibitions that deeply impacted her, such as those of the painter Neves E Sousa, whose African themes and human expressions left an indelible mark on her art. Recognized internationally, her solo and group exhibitions have received praise and sincere opinions, as was the case at Expo Milano 2015 in Milan. Arlette highlights the creative power that motivates her to approach her subjects, feeling fulfilled by the response of the public and the success of the colors that bring her works to life.
