Eliana Fontes Fernandes Sá (Viana do Castelo, 1983) is a Portuguese visual artist based in Montijo. She decided at the age of 14 to pursue painting as her primary artistic practice, which remains at the core of her work. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from ESAD–IPL and completed the Erasmus Programme at the Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst – Sint Lucas Gent, Belgium. She also holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Visual Arts in Basic and Secondary Education from the University of Beira Interior, as well as a Postgraduate qualification in Special Education.

Alongside her artistic practice, she has developed a solid professional career in art education and cultural mediation, having worked in museums and educational services and taught Visual Arts at various levels of education. Since 2023, she has been part of the team at the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum in Lisbon.

Her exhibition career has been continuous and consistent since the late 1990s. She has presented several solo exhibitions in Portugal, including Matter (2003), Fluidity (2004), Gesturality (2013), and more recently Flowing in the Gesture at the Municipal Gallery of Montijo (2023).

She has participated extensively in group exhibitions, biennials, art prizes, and international art fairs in Portugal and abroad. In 2024 and 2025, she took part in major international events such as the Milano Art & Design Week, the Salon International d’Art Contemporain ARTEF in Luxembourg, the Vision Art Fair and ARTBEAT Fair in Lisbon. In Portugal, her work has been shown in significant exhibitions and festivals including the BIALE – International Biennial of Alentejo, the Mário Silva Prize, ARTIS Festival (Seia), FOZ’ARTE, 100 Artists Gondomar, and Small Formats at Galeria Monumental, among many others.

Her exhibition history also includes early participations in biennials and collective shows from the 2000s, such as Soarte, Os Percursores, Mascararte – Mask Biennial, Mertolarte, and final degree exhibitions at ESAD, reflecting a sustained artistic practice spanning more than two decades.

Her work has been featured in several national and international publications and catalogues related to contemporary art exhibitions, biennials, and fairs.
