Artist featured by Arca Gallery The One in a collection. |
José de Pina is an architect with 27 years of experience, during which he has participated in and won several competitions, including international ones. He has worked on major projects such as universities, schools, theaters, municipal swimming pools, and sports halls, thanks to the opportunities provided by his architecture office.
As a painter, José focuses on the abstract contemplation of nothing to discover something. He employs the exercise of recognition, where the mind transforms incomprehensible scribbles into intelligible messages, to create his works. Although he always makes preliminary sketches before painting on canvas, he does not have a defined objective for his paintings. His motives arise intrinsically, not bound to specific themes like the environment, religion, or women's rights.
His paintings reflect a filtered reality, emotion, or feeling, maintaining a high level of abstraction to free thought from literal interpretations. Despite his works having different meanings for each viewer, José struggles with self-doubt and seeks to dedicate more time to painting.
