Collection: Waldson Faleiro, visual artist

Waldson Faleiro is a Santomean artist whose relationship with art began very early, around the age of eight. Inspired by observing handmade work within his family environment, he quickly developed an interest in drawing and, still in childhood, participated in his first art competition, where he won second place and received his first drawing award in 1988. This early achievement marked the beginning of his artistic path, motivating him to invest in training and experimentation in various fields such as painting, drawing, metal sculpture, and pottery.

Throughout his career, Sou took part in several training programs at the Teia d’@rte Art School, including workshops led by renowned artists such as the Senegalese painter Seyni Gadiaga and the American professor Débora Miller. He also worked alongside graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, deepening his skills in painting, drawing, and metalwork.

His artistic trajectory includes participation in collective exhibitions such as the II Biennial of Art and Culture in São Tomé (2002), as well as individual exhibitions in São Tomé and Portugal. Notable solo shows include Telá Nón (Nossa Terra) (2007), A Outra Face (2009), Pérola de São Tomé (2010), Ritmos Africanos (2011), and the Simbiose series (2025).

Today, Sou continues to develop work that resonates with art lovers and collectors, creating pieces that highlight memory, identity, and expressiveness. He remains committed to producing artworks that become meaningful and memorable to those who follow and appreciate his artistic journey.
