Alexandre Barbosa Marques is a Portuguese artist based in Lisbon whose practice focuses on abstract painting in oil and acrylic. Although he has worked as a veterinary surgeon since 2013, he began his artistic journey in 2022, developing a pictorial language grounded in the exploration of colour, texture, and emotion.
His artistic training takes place at the Atelier Internacional Belas Artes, founded by Rui Carruço and Sofia Lopes Rosa, where he studies under the guidance of Paula Carichas. Within this environment, he has deepened his exploration of the expressive possibilities of abstract painting, developing a visual practice that seeks a balance between intuition, gesture, and composition.
His work explores inner landscapes and emotional states through expansive fields of colour and immersive atmospheres, inviting viewers into a contemplative experience that remains open to personal interpretation.
