Collection: Guga Morgado, visual artist

Artist featured by Art Gallery The One in a collection.

Guga Morgado is a Portuguese visual artist, born in 2000 in the city of Coimbra. He grew up in Caldas da Rainha and currently resides in Lisbon. Morgado completed his schooling in Caldas da Rainha, choosing the Visual Arts and History and Culture of the Arts area in secondary education.

Since childhood, Morgado has been interested in the arts and dreamed of pursuing a career as an artist. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he experimented with painting on canvas and became "kind of addicted" to painting. This led him to develop his work as a visual artist.

In 2021, Morgado held his first solo exhibition, titled "Puberty," at the José Malhoa Museum in Caldas da Rainha. The exhibition featured paintings that referenced films, music, books, history, science, different cultures, moral issues, and social and environmental problems. His works blended figurative and abstract styles, with the inclusion of words and numbers.

Currently, Morgado is attending the 2nd year of the painting course at ArCo - Center for Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon. His first solo exhibition in Lisbon took place in January 2024.
