WELCOME TO ART GALLERY THE ONE

Collection: Abraham Levy Lima, visual artist

Artist featured by Art Gallery The One in a collection.

Abraham Levy Lima is a contemporary Portuguese painter and visual artist, born in 1948 in Lajedos, on the island of Santo Antão (Cabo Verde). His work belongs to the tradition of figurative painting with a documentary character, distinguished by a realistic style that often reaches a remarkable level of detail close to hyperrealism.

His artistic production focuses primarily on the depiction of historical and maritime scenes. Among his most recurrent subjects are historic vessels, naval battles, and a variety of nautical scenes, reflecting a deep interest in the history of navigation. His work also includes still lifes, landscapes, and urban views—especially of Lisbon—as well as representations of the Portuguese and Cape Verdean coasts.

Abraham Levy Lima’s pictorial language reflects influences from different artistic traditions, including Flemish, American, and Russian schools. These influences, combined with rigorous historical research, allow him to create detailed and credible compositions that evoke epic narratives and a strong connection to the maritime world.
