Imane Kamal Idrissi, a renowned visual artist born in Casablanca in 1984, has explored diverse cultural influences throughout her life, embracing her French and Cape Verdean nationalities. Her artistic journey has been marked by an innovative technique, in which she works on layers of overlapping plexiglass, creating works that play with transparency and perspective.
Although she has gained prominence mainly in Southern Africa, Imane recently chose Lisbon as her new creative backdrop. Her work is internationally recognized, with pieces in private collections, such as the portrait of the first Mozambican president, Samora Machel, now owned by Machel's widow, Graça Machel, also known as the last wife of Nelson Mandela.
Furthermore, Imane was invited to portray the King of Morocco for the Throne Festival in 2018, and her portrait now adorns the Royal Palace of Rabat. Her artistic versatility is evident in her creations, ranging from portraits to acrylic medallions, such as the portrait of Karl Lagerfeld, the famous fashion designer.
Imane's work is a fusion of diverse cultural influences, reflecting her rich life experience and multifaceted identity. Her unique technique and her ability to incorporate different perspectives make her works visually captivating and unique.
