Rosarinho Andrade (born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1960) is a Portuguese textile artist whose career bridges science, design, and contemporary craft. She holds a degree in Medicine and spent nearly 30 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily as Marketing and Sales Director. Throughout her life, the arts have remained a constant presence, expressed through drawing, embroidery, painting, and music.
In 2019, she embraced a major turning point in her professional path by studying Interior Design at the Cascais School of Arts and Design, where she first encountered the textile world. Her artistic journey began in 2022, when she learned the tapestry technique known as Woven Frames, a traditional method commonly associated with woven rope seating. Over the past three years, this practice has become a process of self-discovery and the development of a personal visual language, reinterpreting the technique through a contemporary lens.
Deeply inspired by architecture, geometry, and color, she applies principles of depth, structure, and perspective to a two-dimensional textile surface. Her work is informed by close observation of both natural and urban landscapes, translating captured moments and perspectives into balanced, calm, and aesthetically refined compositions.
Committed to sustainability, she works primarily with Portuguese brands and 100% natural fibers, including cotton, linen, jute, and Arraiolos wool. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, and France, and has received several awards, honorable mentions, and recognitions between 2023 and 2025.
