Brief Description
When we are far from our place of origin and facing difficulties, closing our eyes and thinking about our homeland has the power to recenter us. Like many immigrants who survive far from their country by resorting to what is available around them, I decided in this work to use a medium that honors this capacity for improvisation: a platex board that I rescued from the street. The model is a young Cape Verdean mother who faces life with courage and with the serenity that only women possess.
