António Galrinho was born in 1964 in Santarém, Portugal, and has lived in Setúbal since childhood. He began his artistic journey at the age of nineteen when he enrolled in the Painting course at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts.
He worked as a visual arts teacher for nearly three decades and regularly writes articles and gives lectures on the history of art. In 2012, he was awarded the Medal of Honour of the City of Setúbal in recognition of his contribution to culture. Since leaving public education in 2014, he has devoted himself entirely to his two great passions: writing and painting.
The human figure is the central theme of his work, depicting nude, semi-nude, and clothed bodies, as well as life-sized and large-scale portraits. He works primarily with acrylic on canvas, card, and fabric. Rather than adhering to a single aesthetic, he frequently develops thematic series, allowing him to explore and refine specific artistic concepts.
His solo exhibitions have been held at prestigious venues including the Michel Giacometti Museum of Work (Setúbal), Casa da Cultura (Setúbal), Setúbal Municipal Library, Almeirim Municipal Gallery, Santarém Municipal Library, Fundação Caixa Agrícola Costa Azul (Santiago do Cacém), and the Museum of Mechanical Music (Palmela).
