Conceição Rhodes, born in Santarém, Portugal, in 1948, is a Portuguese visual artist who lives and works in Lisbon. A painter since 1969, she studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, ARCO Lisboa, and the Círculo de Artes Visuais de Coimbra, building a solid foundation in painting and drawing.

Her work is deeply influenced by nature—a presence rooted in her earliest memories—as well as by Renaissance painting, the works of Poussin, and Abstract Expressionism. Her creative process begins with color stains that gradually evolve into figures, environments, and natural elements, guided by intuition, the subconscious, and free gesture. Her paintings often reveal mysterious, sometimes dreamlike atmospheres that emerge without prior planning. For the artist, painting is a form of emotional catharsis and a means of reaching beyond materiality, inviting viewers to explore unfamiliar inner worlds.

Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Portugal and abroad, including Lisbon, Porto, London, Paris, Barcelona, Granada, and Macau. Her work is represented in public collections such as those of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Administration, and the Centro Galego de Lisboa, as well as in several private collections.
