Madelaine Gabriela Lovell Cortezis a Chilean visual artist with a degree in Visual Arts (painting specialization) from the University of Chile, graduated with academic excellence. Her work combines realist painting, documentary photography, and research on female and territorial identity, often highlighting traditional crafts and decolonial perspectives.
Her recent seven-year project explores the visual identity of Muslim women, challenging stereotypes and finding parallels with Latin American cultures. She also documents rural life in northern Chilean farming communities affected by drought and mining, through photographic and pictorial archives.
Her practice is rooted in themes of identity, memory, landscape, decolonial imagery, and intercultural connections. She has held several individual and group exhibitions in Chile, showcasing both painting and photography.
She currently works at the Central Bank of Chile and independently manages the production, sale, and exhibition of her artwork.
