WELCOME TO ART GALLERY THE ONE

Collection: William Moritz, visual artist

Artist featured by Art Gallery The One in a collection.

William Charles Moritz III (b. 1984) is an American artist whose practice is centered on landscape and figuration, shaped by time, distance, and sustained observation. Holding both a BFA and an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design, he employs a slow, layered painting process informed by extended periods of solitude in nature. His compositions emphasize scale, restraint, and stillness over narrative resolution.

Moritz has lived and worked across the United States, Asia, and Europe, experiences that have shaped his understanding of place as a site of reflection rather than destination. Alongside his artistic practice, he has maintained an international career in visual culture and design.

His paintings position the land as an active presence, creating spaces where attention, endurance, and return unfold quietly. Rather than offering an escape, they invite viewers into a deeper awareness of their own experience.

William Charles Moritz III's paintings speak softly, yet they endure. They encourage viewers not to leave their lives behind, but to recognize themselves more fully within them.
