Yurina Roncourt, known artistically as Rhinos, is a self-taught Cuban-American visual artist currently based in Portugal. Her artistic practice spans abstract, figurative, and surrealist art, and is primarily developed through acrylic painting, ranging from small canvases to large-scale murals.
With an academic background in Education, specializing in Spanish Language and Literature, Rhinos merges the power of language with visual expression, creating works rich in symbolism and narrative. She frequently employs mixed media techniques, incorporating drawing, collage, and experimental materials to add depth to her compositions.
In recent years, she has also focused on the creation and restoration of artworks with spiritual and religious themes, exploring symbolism as a bridge between the visible and the invisible. A recurring element in her work is the symbolic and emotional connection between humans and animals, expressed through vibrant colors, layered symbols, and dreamlike imagery, inviting empathy, introspection, and emotional connection.
